Description

This IWA YWP online Get-Together is a part of a series of online meetings developed for the IWA Young Water Professionals community.

To amplify and support the work and engagement of young water professionals in the water sector, this upcoming IWA YWP Get-Together will highlight the main outcomes and key takeaways of two major events for the water community: the 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference, also known as the 27 ‘Conference of the Parties’ (COP27) and the 2022 United Nations Water Summit on Groundwater, known as the 2022 Groundwater Summit.

For nearly three decades, the UN has been bringing together almost every country on earth for COP. The COP27 was held in November 2022, being hosted by Egypt. This was the first COP held in Africa. The second week of COP27 focused on the critical links between water and climate, making it the first COP that included water on its official agenda.

Following COP27, the water community turned its attention to groundwater resources with the 2022 Groundwater Summit. The UN Water Summit on Groundwater 2022 will be held in Paris in December 2022. It aims to bring attention to groundwater at the highest international level.

The IWA Young Water Professionals Steering Committee invites the IWA Young Water Professional community to meet online in a Get-Together. This is a unique opportunity to gather as a group, meet your peers, make new friends, and talk about the topics we are all passionate about – a water-wise world! This event is also part of the “IWA Roadmap from Copenhagen to New York” activities.
