Biography

Gretta is an active member of the IWA YWP Rwanda with more than 8 years of professional experience in Water Resources Management, Climate Adaptation and Resilience as well as Disaster Risks Management. She holds a MSc in Environmental Science and Engineering with a specialization in “Hydrometeorology” from Ewha Womans University in South Korea, as well as a BSc. in Water and Environmental Engineering from the College of Science and Technology at the University of Rwanda, formerly known as Kigali Institute of Science and Technology.

In her position as Vice-Chair and Business Development Lead, she oversees the daily activities of Rwanda Young Water Professionals by working closely with the Hubs of the chapter to develop and implement research-oriented projects related to water resources management, climate adaptation and resilience, Water and Sanitation Hygiene, and effectively build strategic partnerships between the YWP Rwanda and different organizations working in the water sector in Rwanda.

Beside that she works as a Consultant in the Water and Environment sector. Since she joined the Rwanda Young Water Professional in 2018, she developed experience in writing proposals for small grants and projects management. In addition to that, she is also part of the scientific working group on Weather/ Climate and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) of the Intergovernmental Hydrological Program (IHP) National Committee in Rwanda.


Honoré Ndayishimiye is a Young Water Professional from Rwanda, with over 6 years’ experience in water and environment sector.  He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Chemistry from the University of Rwanda – College of Science and Technology in 2016. Currently, He is working as the Operations Manager for the chapter and he is working as an Environmental consultant in water and environment sector working with various institutions in water sector.

Honoré is an active member of IWA-YWP Rwanda as part of Operations and Business Development hub which is in charge of developing, preparing and contributing to writing proposals for grant applications on Climate change adaptation, environmental management, WASH and water resources management. Since 2017, Honoré served as an Environmental Expert in Water Resources Management studies, Climate Change projects, Environmental and Social studies, GHG inventories, Climate Adaptation and Mitigation studies and Urban Water Resilience Projects.

In addition to that, Honoré has joined different professional bodies including but not limited to Rwanda Association of Professional Environmental Practitioners and Rwanda Standard Board Technical Committees. Furthermore, Honoré has completed various professional courses including Construction Project Management, Occupational Health and Safety on Construction Sites, and Effective Communication &Technical Writing Skills.

Apart from that, Honoré enjoys teamwork and he promotes self-development and improvement in water and environment sector. He believes that contribution to addressing water challenges in Rwanda by providing sustainable solutions that last, relies on a complex network of people and factors to work together effectively, and he always fights for leaving the world a bit better than he found it.
