City challenges discussed in unique concept

Cities are rapidly expanding and water resources are under increasing pressure. We need to find ways to do more with less, while ensuring that cities are resilient to floods, droughts and the challenges of growing water scarcity. Transitioning cities to address these challenges has never been more urgent. The journey towards water-wise cities is in full motion. IWA will use the momentum of the IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition 2018 in Tokyo (16 – 21 September 2018) to put the water-wise cities initiative on stage in both the congress and the exhibition. The exhibition will be host to a Cities Pavilion powered by the IWA water-wise cities initiative partners. It will be the place for utilities, cities and their basins to exchange and discuss actual cities challenges and solutions globally.
The IWA Water-wise cities initiative is supported by Arup, Greater Paris Sanitation Authority and the Cooperative Research Center for Water Sensitive Cities.

The IWA Principles support city leaders in developing their vision so that all have access to safe water and sanitation through regenerative services, fully integrated in planning and design of cities to provide increased resilience to climate change, livability, efficiencies, and a sense of place for urban communities.
