Regulators have a key role in creating the enabling environment to encourage transformation towards sustainable and resilient societies –optimizing resources while protecting and restoring water-related ecosystems.
This webinar will present an overview of targeted benefits and constraints among regulators for implementing nature-based solutions for water management as basis for resilient and sustainable universal access to water and sanitation for all.
The session will approach this topic through a first examination of the role of regulatory authorities and existing regulatory frameworks through real cases in the implementation of Nature based solutions (NBS) to water management for water and sanitation services, commented by practitioners and experts in the subject.
An interactive dialogue with panelists will help to identify examples and the key elements of an enabling environment for investments in NBS –ultimately, to support the role of practitioners in improving water security and safety.
The webinar aims to:
1. explore regulators needs and barriers to implement NBS for water management, as basis for resilient and sustainable universal access to water and sanitation for all;
2. identify and address targeted benefits and constraints – priority issues and gaps; and
3. identify examples of existing regulatory frameworks in support of NBS.
Sharing experiences and lessons learned between countries and at diverse levels of governance will enable participants to envision ways forward to implement NBS as basis for resilient and sustainable universal access to water and sanitation for all.
