Kate Medlicott is the Sanitation team leader within the WASH team at the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland. In this role Kate is responsible for translating health evidence to policy and practice through WHO guidelines and for health sector collaborations where sanitation is a critical components of risk and disease control. Kate led the WHO guidance on environmental surveillance for COVID and is investigating potential for multi-pathogen surveillance. She also sits on the WHO guidelines review committee that oversees the quality of evidence review and recommendation development across all WHO guidelines. Kate co-led the preparation of the State of the World’s Sanitation report.
Since 2023, she is a member of the Advisory Board for IWA’s Inclusive Urban Sanitation initiative.
