Sydney Symposium Communiqué

Towards a common ´urban water framework´

The Sydney Symposium brought together urban planning professionals to debate on how to best plan urban water in our future cities. It was recognized that there is a need for an “urban water framework” that encompasses the four scales- building, precinct, metro and catchment, valorises the synergies between sectors and fosters the transdisciplinary teamwork, including social disciplines.

One of the most valuable outputs of this symposium is a list of case studies that illustrate how challenges have been overcome to get some “cities of the future” principles implemented.
