Biography

Yvonne Magawa is the Executive Secretary at the Eastern and Southern Africa Water and Sanitation (ESAWAS) Regulators Association. She is overseeing the support to African WSS regulators to improve urban sanitation services by integrating non-sewered sanitation in regulation. Since 2023, she is a member of the Advisory Board for IWA’s Inclusive Urban Sanitation initiative.

She has over eighteen (18) years of experience in water supply and sanitation regulation. She holds a Master’s in Business Administration and her responsibilities have mainly focussed on formulating and implementing corporate strategy, risk management and corporate branding. Her background in the WASH sector includes working in development cooperation and the Zambian national WSS regulator. She has been instrumental in supporting the growth of ESAWAS since its inception and has published several papers on WSS regulation in the region.
