The summer school is divided into three subject areas related to flood risk management: preparedness and long-term planning, flood disaster response and recovery. These three phases will be brought together through distinct cross-cutting perspectives for adaptive management, monitoring, and learning as well as community engagement.

The summer school offers a unique interdisciplinary forum that builds and strengthen collaborations between these research communities from the East and the West.
