Biography

Suresh is excited to start his assignment at IWA and looks forward to sharing his expertise. Suresh holds a doctorate from Queen’s University Belfast and has been a Fulbright Research Scholar at UC Berkeley (USA), British Chevening Fellow at Bradford Centre for International Development and attended Harvard Business School Executive Development Programme. He has over 25 years experience gained from working in development sector (academics, government, INGO and global think tanks). He also has a background in research and teaching experience with universities in  the UK and India. He has developed training opportunities and programmes for the Central, State and local government in India, working with regulators, managers and practitioners.

His associations include with Centre for Science & Environment, India as Senior Director – Water Programme, Academic Director , School of Water and Waste where he has spearheaded research and created initiatives. Suresh has long been an advocate of promoting sustainable sanitation in India as well as the global South. His work has involved advising government agencies, key sector organisations and universities in Africa and South Asia on water sanitation and management.

Suresh has also worked for WWF as Director – Environment and Development, India, Associate Professor at ASCI, Hyderabad, Lecturer at University of Bradford, Research CIM Teaching Fellow at Queen’s University Belfast, Assistant Director at National Capital Region Planning Board – Government of India and Director – Natural Heritage at Indian National Trust for Art & Cultural Heritage.

Outside of work, Suresh has an active family and social circle.
