Biography

Rui Malheiro has a background in Civil Engineering and a Master’s degree in Hydraulics. He has worked with water utilities in Smart Metering and SCADA Systems data analysis in order to improve utilities’ performance. Rui has also been a product manager in a technology firm developing those technologies. Rui has worked in multiple projects for real water losses reduction, energy efficiency, and performance assessment in diverse utilities.

He joined IWA in 2014, and since then he has worked in various international projects with water utilities and financial institutions, organised and participated in different global water events. Rui is currently Strategic Programmes Senior Officer for Water and Sanitation Services at IWA.
