Laura joined the Association in March 2020 as a Leadership Engagement Officer. Specifically, her role involves working with the Association’s community of regulators on IWA’s Water Policy & Regulation work as well as engaging with and supporting YWP Chapters in IWA’s network. She is also currently working as a Project Officer for IWA’s Regulating for Citywide Inclusive Sanitation Initiative.
Before joining IWA Laura had been working in the water industry for around 4 years. Her career in water started at Waterwise (a water efficiency NGO based in the UK) during a placement year as part of her Geography degree at the University of Plymouth which is where her passion for water began. During the final year of her degree, Laura also undertook a brief research-focused work placement at South West Water (a utility that serves the South West of England) where she looked at effluent re-use opportunities. Following this, she then worked for a water retailer in the open water market based in London (The Water Retail Company) firstly as their Project Analyst and then Key Account Manager.
Laura’s key interests in the water sector include: sustainable water resource management, WASH and universal access to water and sanitation, behaviour change and community engagement within the water sector.
