Florence is a water and sanitation professional with over 8 years of progressive career development and practical experience working in the WASH and health sectors with government and international non-governmental organisations, in both development (rural and urban) and humanitarian contexts.
Her work has been blended by partnering with donor agencies such as UNICEF, USAID, and WASH NGOs. The most recent role was Programme Advisor, Effective Institutions with WaterAid Uganda. In this role, Florence provided oversight leadership in the analysis and implementation of the sector and systems strengthening agenda, aimed at improving institutional capacity to deliver on their mandates. She also previously worked with Gulu District Local Government in Uganda for over 5 years, largely in the water and sanitation sector where she spearheaded intersectoral coordination and collaboration aimed at improving institutional WASH governance.
Florence holds a MSc in Sanitation from IHE Delft Institute for Water Education, the Netherlands, a bachelor’s degree in environmental health science from Makerere University School of Public Health, and Postgraduate diploma in Project Planning and Management from Uganda Management Institute. Her training background is largely on environmental health and non-sewered sanitation/ faecal sludge management (FSM) service delivery in developing countries. Other professional and career development training include programme design and management; leadership; financial (grants) management; proposal development; partnership development and management.
