Biography
Dr. Anthony Milburn is a Water Resources Consultant who was appointed as the first Executive Director of the IWA. After serving 18 years as Executive Director of the International Association on Water Quality (IAWQ), Anthony Milburn was one of the key figures in the successful merger that established the International Water Association. In 1999, he was appointed IWA Executive Director then in 2001, Co-Executive Director alongside Mr. Paul Reiter.
A civil engineer by profession, Anthony Milburn was a manager at the UK National Water Council where he led training programmes for the water and wastewater industry. He also worked as a consultant for The World Bank and international governments on capacity development programmes for the water supply sector. Anthony Milburn holds several professional honours including Fellow of the International Water Academy, the European Academy of Science and Arts, the UK Institution of Civil Engineers and the UK Chartered Institute of Water and Environmental Management.
