The International Water Association is pleased to announce that the next edition of the IWA Water and Development Congress & Exhibition will take place in Bangkok, Thailand, from 8-12 December 2025. The Congress will be hosted by the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), underscoring a strong collaboration in advancing water and sanitation solutions across the region.

Building on the tremendous success of the 2023 Water and Development Congress & Exhibition in Kigali, Rwanda, the upcoming Bangkok edition promises to elevate the momentum even further. The Kigali congress marked a milestone for the spectrum of professionals – especially practitioners, researchers, policy makers and solution providers – dedicated to water, sanitation, and climate resilience in low- and middle-income countries. Attracting nearly 2,700 participants from 85 countries, the 2023 event delivered a dynamic programme featuring 39 technical sessions, 40 workshops, and 5 forums all alongside an outstanding exhibition. Highlights included the High-Level Summit on Sanitation, a sanitation Innovation Acceleration Forum, and strong utility, service provision, and climate change segments.

The Kigali sessions facilitated the exchange of practical knowledge and highlighted innovative solutions, with a particular emphasis on contributions from utilities and stakeholders across Africa. Under the theme ‘Water, Sanitation, and Climate Resilience – Keys to a Water-Wise Future’, the congress underscored IWA’s unwavering commitment to advancing Sustainable Development Goals. This message reverberated throughout the week, reinforcing the global drive for a more resilient and water-secure future.

The 2025 Congress in Bangkok will continue this tradition of excellence. It will offer an engaging platform for knowledge exchange, innovation, and collaboration across the global water sector, as well as a focus on themes with strong relevance in the region.
