IWA Digital Water Programme Steering Committee welcomes five new members

The IWA Digital Water Programme welcomed five new members to its Steering Committee, strengthening its expertise and global reach. The new group includes professionals from utility, solution provider, consultant, and ICT sectors. The 2025-2027 Committee reflects the IWA Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) standards, with 45% female representation and 40% from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).

On 14 March 2025, outgoing and incoming members met for the official handover meeting to discuss the objectives of the Programme as well brainstorm future actions. IWA Executive Director Kala Vairavamoorthy thanked the outgoing members and encouraged the new group to bring fresh perspectives, while shining a light on emerging technologies, as well as strengthening IWA’s role in digital water. Steering Committee Chair Oliver Grievson echoed these points and urged members to identify industry challenges, stay aligned with sector transformations, and use global case studies to drive impact.

Outgoing member Saba Daneshgar shared his journey in the Steering Committee, joining as a young water professional and having the opportunity to work with a diverse group of experts on multiple projects. He also noted that his tenure in the Committee showed him that academia and practitioners view digitalisation with different lenses, which he stated highlights the importance of communication across sectors.

The 2025-2027 Steering Committee is set to guide the Digital Water Programme into its next phase, ensuring digitalisation remains central to sustainable water management.
