Insights Into the Water, Energy and Food Security Nexus Dialogue

A new video providing a collection of insights on opportunities and solutions for Water, Energy and Food Security has been shown at the recent Nexus Symposium which took place in Beijing.

The Nexus Beijing Symposium, entitled  ‘Building Partnerships to Optimise Infrastructure and Technology for Water, Energy and Food Security’ was jointly organised by the International Water Association (IWA) and IUCN as part of the Nexus Dialogue on Water Infrastructure Solutions. This initiative is a call to action to those leading transformations in water infrastructure planning, financing and operations. It provides a forum for sharing experiences, tools and guidelines on how water infrastructure and technologies can address challenges on the Water, Energy and Food Security Nexus.

Katharine Cross, Programme manager at the IWA, said, “The Nexus Dialogue is a strong communication tool, and a catalyst for cross-sector dialogue. There is tremendous strength within the individual silos and, if used more effectively, this presents a huge opportunity to build a systemic response to the challenges ahead.”

Since 2013, IWA and IUCN have organized a series of regional workshops in Africa, Latin America, Asia and Central Asia, on the role of infrastructure in the Nexus. These workshops led to a global Nexus Symposium in Beijing and will result in a set of recommendations which will establish policy principles for sustainable water infrastructure operation, management and optimization for the Nexus. The Dialogue will hold a final event at the 7th World Water forum in Daegu and Gyeongbuk, South Korea from 12-17 April, 2015.
