Digital Water Unpacked at IWA World Water Congress and Exhibition

Digital Water is a key theme that will be uncovered at the upcoming World Water Congress & Exhibition taking place on 11-15 September. We are pleased to announce Enrique Cabrera and Oliver Grievson as keynote speakers during a plenary session on Tuesday 13 September (17:20-18:10) where they will share their knowledge and experience to unravel the innovations of Digital Water.

Oliver is a highly experienced water industry professional working in water & wastewater operations, managing the entire gamut of water operations from water resources, production and distribution through to wastewater collection and treatment. More recently Oliver joined Z-Tech Control Systems as Technical Lead, focusing on both instrumentation and the digital transformation of the water industry. He is passionate about digitalisation, smart water systems and technology.

Enrique is a tenured full professor in fluid mechanics at the Universitat Politècnica de València. His activity revolves around urban water management and pressure hydraulics. More specifically on topics related to performance assessment, benchmarking, regulation of water services, digital water, water and energy and infrastructure asset management.

Commenting on the upcoming engagement, Oliver added: “Digital Transformation is a concept that has been around for the past twenty year or so but it is now that the industry is starting to adopt the digital tools and start to take advantage of the concept and apply it to address some of the industries toughest challenges such as leakage, pollution management and the race to Net Zero.”

IWA Executive Director Kala Vairavamoorthy added:

“The Congress is the ideal place to build momentum across the international water sector in support of a smarter approach to water management. We are thrilled to have Oliver and Enrique speaking about the digital transformation that is under way in the water sector, encompassing improvements in function, viability, and overall service provision by utilities in the face of ageing infrastructure, increased frequency of extreme events, urbanisation and population growth, and unforeseen global events.”
