The 12th IWA Symposium on Tastes, Odours, and Algal Toxins in Drinking Water Sources and Aquaculture will be held on 29 August to 1 September, 2025, in Shanghai, China. The symposium will primarily address issues related to tastes, odours, and algal toxins in water sources and aquaculture environments, including those caused by the abnormal growth of cyanobacteria and other factors affecting water quality and sensory properties.

evaluation methods, odorant detection and identification techniques, taste and odour compound
generation mechanisms, and control strategies.The symposium will serve as a platform for researchers and practitioners from the water supply
and aquaculture industries, promoting Industry-Academia-Research collaboration and mutual
benefit. The event will be jointly sponsored by the Research Center for Eco-Environmental
Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences (RCEES, CAS), Xi’an University of Architecture and
Technology, Zhejiang University, Shanghai Water Purification Technology Periodical Press.
Prof. Min Yang (RCEES) and Prof. Tsair-Fuh Lin (Chair of the Specialist Group) will serve as
Co-Chairs of the symposium. The program will feature keynote speeches, invited talks, oral
presentations, poster sessions, workshops, and a technical tour to visit the largest reservoir in Shanghai.
