Kizito is responsible for all aspects of the development and implementation of IWA’s events and awards around the world. Prior to this role, Kizito was a Strategic Programmes Senior Officer based at the Africa Regional Office in Nairobi. He provided technical support in the conservation and management of Africa’s water resources, and in developing the capacities of water service providers to improve the quality of their service provision through improved governance and management of utilities. He also worked with various utilities around Africa on water quality projects, specifically in developing and implementing Water Safety Plans. He has previously worked as Project Officer with the Tropical Biology Association where he built expertise in biodiversity conservation and research through field courses in biology and specialist skills workshops. He then joined the United Nations Environment Programme as Programme Specialist where he worked with the Global Programme of Action for the Protection of the Marine Environment from Land-based Activities (UNEP – GPA). Kizito holds a Master of Science in Natural Resources Management from Egerton University, Kenya.
