Young Water Professionals

At the forefront of the design, development and implementation of current change processes,

IWA’s activities for Young Water Professionals aim to empower the next generation of water leaders.

About the Community

It is clear that the water sector should invest in the recruitment, management and development of young staff, as well as put them at the forefront of the design, development and implementation of current change processes. It is not a concern of the future, it is happening now!

IWA invests in Young Water Professionals, by empowering them within the association and the water sector. Young members will be able to build their careers in this network, by connecting and contributing (working with peers internationally) to the water sector, and through this build their network, develop professionally, and gain profile.

Why Join?

  • In a world increasingly needing to bridge divides and break out of silos, the IWA is a cohesive network of water sector professionals who are creating impact to address global water challenges.

How to get involved?

  • To take part in this global network and to contribute to achieving IWA’s water-wise vision for the future, join the YWPs Community on Connect Plus (only for IWA members aged 35 years old or younger) and one of the IWA YWPs Country Chapters. Check below how to get involved.

Meet the IWA YWP Country Chapters

The chapters are a voluntary network of YWPs with a minimum of 3 IWA members in its steering committee, usually within a country, although sometimes at the regional level. They are set up as a way to enable regional, national and local activities. These activities help with the engagement and inclusion of a more diverse network of YWPs from various organisations within the water sector.

More information about the chapters is available below:

Meet the IWA YWP Steering Committee

The representative body of young members (35 and below) provides advice to the association about the appropriate ways to serve young professionals’ needs, support their empowerment and engage and contribute to them in IWA’s current activities at the national and international levels. More information about the members of the Steering Committee for the 2024-2026 term is available below.
